Requirements for Long-Term Car Rental
Our long-term car rentals are only available for rentals with a minimum length of 15 days and a maximum of 330 days. Other than that, you’ll need to meet the same basic rental requirements as our general rentals, including:
- Age Requirements: You must be at least 21 to rent with Avis in most U.S. states and Canadian provinces and at least 25 to avoid the underage surcharge fee.
- Non-Smoking Policy: Avis does not permit smoking in our vehicles, and a fine is issued for non-smoking policy violations.
- Payment Options Policies: Use your credit or debit card for long-term car rentals at most Avis locations. You must be at least 25 to use debit cards (18 in New York) with a Visa or MasterCard logo.

A long-term car rental can be a more affordable option compared to leasing a car for several months. It may also be less expensive per day to rent long-term, but this all depends on the availability of vehicles and the dates you choose to rent. Bear in mind that the rules can be different whether you rent or lease a car.
